Respect Me Annual Conference

19th November 2013

A group of S2-S4 pupils from Rosshall Academy performed in front of a large audience at the Respect Me Annual Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow on Tuesday 19th November. The pupils had recently completed a 2-day Peer Mediation training course in October, delivered by Carol Hope of Scottish Mediation Network. Carol Hope had asked the pupils if they would be willing to be involved in the day. The pupils were very keen to be involved and decided to deliver their message through a drama scene on cyber bullying and then outlined the five stages of peer mediation through role play.

Their presentation also included audience participation not only through the drama but two pupils also started a gossiping whisper through both sides of the audience. Both sides of the room ended up with completed different versions of the same rumour which clearly showed the impact of how rumours can cause problems and can escalate the initial situation.

The Rosshall Pupils thoroughly enjoyed their experience and has developed their skills and given them the confidence to speak in front of a large audience. They received very positive comments from members of the audience.
