Rosshall Win Poetry Slam 2010 Competition

Last week schools from all over Glasgow gathered at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow to take part in the annual Aye Write Poetry Slam Competition. Some of the schools which were there included Bannerman High, Lourdes, and Notre Dame.
Poetry slamming takes place all over the world but this one was only for secondary school pupils. You could rap, sing, perform or just read a poem that you have wrote yourself. The poem can be about anything you do or feel passionately about.
We went to the Mitchell Library by coach on Friday afternoon. We all piled into the theatre to watch and listen to the poetry. First of all there was a group poem from every school.  Rosshall's group effort earned them 3rd place overall.
Then 2 rounds of individual poems, followed by  a short performance from “Big Taj and Louis” a beat boxing/ rapping duo.   Our solo rappers were very successsful: George came 2nd in his group but Ibi picked up 1st prize for her very emotional poem.
The only thing left was which school would win the OVERALL PRIZE.

Finally the results were read… in 3rd place was… Bannerman, in 2nd place was… Lourdes.

And in first place… ROSSHALL.
